With Election Day only 2 days away, it is interesting to look back on the media’s portrayal of the presidential contenders during the first phase of the 2012 race. The Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism has conducted a weekly content analysis combined with computer algorithmic technology to evaluate coverage across more than 11,500 news media outlets each day (Journalism, 2011). The study covers The Media Primary, or the 23 weeks from May 2, when candidates began to announce, to October 9.  The research is able to compare shifts in news coverage and in blogs with changes in polls or campaign events that may be occurring at these times.  As students surrounded by the messages the media portrays of these candidates, a reality that can ultimately impact voting decisions, I am curious to see what your thoughts are. Fill out the following poll and find out how your answers compare to the real statistics on Tuesday!
